Lesson 7: Chinese New Year Lap-Book

If you’re looking for an engaging, meaningful way to celebrate Chinese New Year in your classroom this year, a themed lap-book is a wonderful option - especially for the Year of the Horse! This interactive lap-book helps students explore culture, language, creativity, and personal connection in one memorable project.

This CNY lap-book includes several key learning components. Students create a “My Horse” section, where they personalize their own horse and describe it - perfect for vocabulary such as body parts, actions, colors, and simple sentences. Writing sheets allow students to practice 2026 in Chinese, , and related characters with handwriting support and repetition that feels purposeful rather than tedious.

There is also a Chinese zodiac section, helping students connect to cultural knowledge, understand 属, and compare different zodiac animals. Finally, students label parts of a horse, strengthening vocabulary in a visual, concrete way that works especially well for younger learners and beginners.
